Dimensions

3 pieces of 37.5" x 21.5" x 2" THK (950mmx550mmx50mm)

Materials

Polyester (PET) Acoustic Felt + Brushed Anodized Aluminum Frame

Color and texture

Our felt is a blend of colored polyester fibers, so small variations in color and texture between panels and production batches are normal.

How it works

Lab-Tested Performance. Without the Lab Look

These sculptural panels pull double duty - aesthetic in the gallery, acoustic in the studio. Verified in the lab, felt in the room.

How much sound it absorbs

PERFORMANCE

Color Field Acoustic Panel Set – Sculptural Colorfield Triptych

Our panels don’t just look great. They deliver real acoustic results, and this chart reflects how sound behaves with our material in play.

Select a configuration to compare absorption.

Values above α 1.00 are a normal result of reverberation-room testing: sound diffracts around the panel’s exposed edges, so the panel absorbs more energy than its face area alone accounts for.

How we measured it

HOW WE MEASURED THIS PERFORMANCE

This chart reflects both RothkoTone and Moogdulation panels. They share the same material, thickness, and integrated air gap — and were tested together in the same calibrated in-room setup. Because both designs are fully filled with dense PET, they deliver strong low-mid absorption despite being only 2" thick. Different look, identical acoustic performance.

Installation guide

Each panel hangs from the hook on its top rail: on the three screws and drywall anchors that come with the set, or from a picture rail. The guide shows both, step by step, in millimetres and inches.

Why a producer chose Massform

🎵 “Most of the studios I’ve built were acoustically incredible, but felt like a dungeon. I wanted something that sounds amazing and actually makes me want to create.”
Rowan Garmon, producer and musician

Modular Air-Gap Compatible

This panel ships studio-ready. When you want even tighter lows, simply snap on our 1.3" (35 mm) Modular Air-Gap Kit to tame stubborn bass — no need to replace the panel you already love.

How it compares

How much sound Color Field absorbs, beside 25 mm acoustic foam and a 2-inch fibre-board panel.

  • Color Field, without Basstrap 1.15 estimated
  • Color Field, with Basstrap 1.25 estimated
  • Two common panels
  • Acoustic foam, 25 mm 0.50 maker’s lab test
  • Fibre-board acoustic panel, 50 mm 1.00 maker’s lab test
How we know
Estimated, not measured: carried over from Massform’s figures for the Basstrap panel. Color Field is thicker than a Basstrap and stands further off the wall, so it should absorb at least this much.
The shape
Spaced on a wall, the panels scatter low-mid sound.
The common panels
One common product of each type, from its maker’s published laboratory test, brand not named; not measured by Massform. Both laid flat with no air gap: the 25 mm wedge foam at Riverbank Acoustical Laboratories (ASTM C423, 1993), the 2-inch fabric-wrapped fibre panel, 56 mm as tested, at the University of Salford (ISO 354, 2014). That test states no NRC, so Massform worked it out from the report’s bands.

NRC: how much sound a surface absorbs, averaged across the range of the voice; higher absorbs more. Solid bars are lab-tested or measured, striped bars calculated or estimated.
